First Time Floats
or Seasoned Reminders

TO DO'S and TO DON'Ts as to what to expect to make your first float even better:

  • Shaving or waxing the same day - is not a good idea.  Ouch.

  • Don't drink caffeine 6 hours before since coffee is a stimulant and might keep you from relaxing.

  • Do eat a light meal a couple hours before so you don't hear your digestive system working.

  • Glasses better than contacts - contacts + salt water = Ouch.

  • Wait 48 hours to float after using spray or cream tans.

  • Wait 72 hours to float after using temporary or permanent hair color.

  • Wait 4-6 weeks to float after adding a tattoo.  Big Ouch.

  • Wait until abrasions or open woulds are fully healed.  Biggest Ouch.

  • Take a shower at FloatNorfolk before floating to wash off oils, makeup or other earthy skin stuff.

  • Petroleum Jelly is provided for any little cuts or scrapes you forgot about.  Ouch.

  • NOTE1: You WILL float - your ears will be under water - wear the ear plugs we give you.

  • NOTE2: You won't flip over on your face if you fall asleep.

  • NOTE3: You can float with the lid open (not as much fun) if you are claustrophobic.

  • NOTE4: Try putting your hands behind your head to feel more stabilized if you are worried.

  • Take a shower after floating to wash off the salt ... your skin will feel like a baby.

  • Get dressed before coming out of your float pod haven.  You will be very relaxed and may forget.

  • We have a hair/makeup refresh area for you to pamper yourself.

  • HYDRATE!  HYDRATE!  HYDRATE!  Pamper yourself with a bottle of:

  • Let us know everything about your experience.  We love all your suggestions.

  • BOOK your next float ... check out OTHER SERVICES below to add more relaxing services.

  • Stay CALM and refuse to be pulled into other people's drama.  MAKE THIS MOMENT LAST.

  • Prepare to have an amazing night's sleep.

Floating is cumulative ~ Start building pain relief NOW.

A Vacation From Pain:

People in pain, particularly chronic pain, can experience both immediate and long-term relief from floating. For a veteran often dealing with constant chronic pain - both physical and emotional - the effortless floating experience to eliminate gravitational pull and dispersing body weight can be a relief from the signature illnesses of veterans and first responders alike.

Also for an arthritis sufferer, a pregnant woman or anyone else dealing with sore muscles and joints, a float session can be a 60- to 90-minute vacation from pain.  As one veteran said after a float: "I forgot all the @#&* I've been through."  His comment still brings tears.  We are blessed to bring relief.  God Bless our relief.
